Taking care of your teeth
Brushing technique
1. Take a toothbrush and slant it at an angle of 45 degree on the gum line of the upper jaw.
2. Slide the brush away from the gums to remove plaque.
3. Repeat the movement up and down for several times.
4. Now similarly brush the inside and the chewing surfaces of the upper jaw in up and down or circular motion.
5. Repeat the process in the lower jaw.
6 Also brush the tongue surface.
7. Do not brush vigorously. Use gentle strokes.
How many times should I brush?
It is recommended to brush two times daily - after breakfast and before going to bed at night.
How long do I need to brush?
For proper effect you need to brush for at least 2 minutes giving each section of your jaw 30 seconds ( lower left, lower right, upper left, upper right). This ensures the effect of the toothpost on your gums.
When do I need to change my brush?
Brush should be change when you notice the wearing of the bristles or in every three months.
What will happen if I use hard bristles or hard strokes?
Hard bristles and hard strokes wear out the enamel surface near the gumline causing the possibility of cavity. When this kind of cavity grows deeper it will cause sensitivity and pain. Hard bristles and hard stroke may also cause gum recession (lowering of gum line exposing more teeth surface) and cause sensitivity.
Flossing tips
1. Take about 18 inches of floss and wrap it around your middle fingers until you have 2 inch length between them.
2. With the help of thumbs and forefinger, slide it gentle upper and lower teeth.
3. Then curve the floss around the base of each tooth in a 'C' shape and gently guide it up and under gumline.
4. Move the floss up and down, to remove plaque and fibrous food enlodge between the teeth.
5. Use new section of floss for each tooth.
